2022 GMC Yukon
The GMC Yukon is the ultimate passenger and cargo hauler. It can fit up to nine people, depending on the trim, and even with all the seats occupied, it can haul plenty of cargo too. For the 2022 model year, the Yukon gains a new standard 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a new infotainment system. Also, the 2022 AT4 trim can now use the 6.2-liter V-8 engine, and the Denali now comes standard with the power-sliding center console.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Yukon is the SLE. It has LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, and proximity entry. Step up to the SLT for 20-inch wheels and a hands-free liftgate. The off-road capable AT4 gains dark gray wheels with all-terrain tires, a heavy-duty air filter, front tow hooks, a skid plate, and an upgraded front fascia. The Denali is the top-level Yukon. It offers several upgrades, such as 22-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and an air suspension system for rear-wheel drive models. Power-retractable side steps are also an option for the Denali along with the Max Trailering Package.
Engine (Power)
The base powertrain for the Yukon is a 5.3-liter V-8 that puts out 355 horsepower. It comes standard with the SLE, SLT, and AT4. A 6.2-liter V-8 is an option for the AT4 and comes standard with the Denali. There's also a 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder for the SLE, SLT, and Denali. It generates 277 horsepower and gets you 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The Yukon is a large SUV, and the driver will feel its size behind the wheel. Any of the engines have plenty of power to propel the Yukon, but if you plan on towing, the V-8 or turbodiesel will get you the extra power you need to haul campers, boats, or utility trailers. The magnetic ride control that comes with the AT4 and Denali is worth the upgrade. It prevents body roll, and the adaptive suspension creates a smooth and quiet ride.
Interior
Inside, seating for eight comes standard, but adding the front bench seat in the SLE increases this to nine. The second row slides forward and back to give third-row passengers more legroom if needed. Stepping up from the base SLE to the SLT gets you heated and ventilated front seats, and you can add the Luxury Package for a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. These options come standard in the AT4 and Denali.
The technology features in the Yukon start with a 10.2-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two 120-volt outlets, Bluetooth, six USB ports, Wi-Fi, and satellite radio. The SLT gets a nine-speaker Bose stereo and wireless charging, and you can get a rear-seat entertainment system in the Denali.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Yukon comes with a rearview camera, forward collision warning with mitigation, and lane-keep assist. The GMC Pro Safety Plus Package is available for the SLE, adding a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. A surround-view camera system is optional for the SLT, AT4, and Denali. The Denali also offers the Advanced Technology Package with adaptive cruise control, a digital rearview camera, and rear automatic braking.
